As an Engineering Manager, you will lead one or more product engineering squads responsible for designing, building, deploying, and operating mission-critical fintech platforms. While your primary responsibility is engineering leadership, you are expected to remain technically engaged, reviewing designs, mentoring engineers, debugging complex problems, reviewing code, and contributing code whenever required. You will help shape engineering culture, improve developer productivity, drive AI adoption, and ensure predictable, high-quality software delivery.
The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:
Lead High-Performing Engineering Teams:
Build, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering squads.
Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Coach engineers and technical leads through regular feedback and career development.
Hire exceptional engineering talent and build strong succession within the team.
Create an environment where engineers take end-to-end ownership of customer outcomes.
Drive Technical Excellence:
Review architecture, solution designs, and critical engineering decisions.
Establish high engineering standards through design reviews and code reviews.
Contribute production-quality code or prototypes when required.
Lead investigation and resolution of complex production issues.
Drive engineering simplicity, maintainability, scalability, and performance.
Continuously reduce technical debt and improve platform health.
Deliver Predictably:
Own engineering delivery for product initiatives, customer implementations, and platform modernisation.
Drive sprint planning, estimation, release planning, and execution discipline.
Remove delivery bottlenecks and proactively manage risks and dependencies.
Partner closely with Product, Architecture, QA, DevOps, Security, Customer Success, and Support teams.
Ensure every release meets quality, security, and operational readiness expectations.
Build Engineering Excellence:
Improve code quality through peer reviews, coding standards, and automation.
Champion automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and DevSecOps practices.
Use engineering metrics to continuously improve productivity, quality, and delivery predictability.
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production incidents and ensure permanent corrective actions.
Build systems that are secure, resilient, observable, and easy to operate.
Lead AI-Enabled Engineering:
Drive adoption of AI-assisted software development across the engineering organisation.
Encourage responsible use of AI for coding, testing, documentation, debugging, and code reviews.
Establish engineering guardrails for AI-generated code.
Continuously evaluate emerging AI tools that improve engineering productivity while maintaining quality and security.
Partner Across the Business:
Communicate engineering progress, risks, trade-offs, and delivery status clearly.
Build trusted relationships with Product, Delivery, Business, Architecture, Security, and Executive Leadership.
Represent Engineering during customer discussions, executive reviews, and technical escalations.
Translate complex technical decisions into clear business outcomes.
Requirements:
10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years in an Engineering Manager or Technical Leadership role.
Strong software engineering background before moving into engineering management.
Experience building enterprise SaaS, fintech, banking, or other large-scale B2B platforms.
Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams across backend, frontend, QA, and DevOps.
Experience delivering cloud-native, API-first, microservices-based applications.
Experience working with regulated enterprise customers such as banks, NBFCs, insurance companies, or financial institutions.
Strong understanding of Agile delivery, release management, DevSecOps, engineering governance, and production operations.
