About the Role
We’re building a range of educational games for Kindergarten and Grades 1 and 2 at Exela Publishing House, and we’re looking for a UI/UX Designer who understands designing for children.
The goal is to create interfaces that are engaging, playful and age-appropriate, while keeping the learning experience at the centre.
You’ll work closely with our content and game development personnel to turn educational concepts into engaging game experiences for young learners.
Responsibilities
Design the UI/UX for educational games targeted at Kindergarten and Grades 1–2.
Design intuitive game flows, navigation, menus, instructions, rewards and feedback screens.
Create engaging and age-appropriate interfaces that children can understand independently.
Design the overall home screen/game dashboard and supporting interfaces.
Work on the UI for multiple games, including different levels, stages and progression systems.
Create wireframes, user flows and high-fidelity UI designs.
Ensure consistency in visual language, typography, icons, buttons and interactions across the games.
Work closely with developers to ensure designs are practical and accurately implemented.
Take feedback from the content and project teams and iterate on designs.
Keep accessibility, readability and ease of interaction in mind when designing for young children.
Key Deliverables
User flows and wireframes where required.
High-fidelity UI designs for the assigned games.
Home screen and common navigation/interface components.
Game screens including instructions, gameplay, rewards, levels and completion screens.
Design system/component library for consistency across the games.
UI assets, icons and other required design elements.
Developer-ready design files and specifications.
Revisions based on testing and project feedback.
Final source files and export-ready assets.
What We’re Looking For
3+ years of experience in UI/UX or game UI design.
Experience designing for children, educational products, games or apps is a strong advantage.
Good understanding of user flows, interaction design and visual hierarchy.
Strong command of tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch or similar.
Ability to create designs that are visually engaging without making the interface confusing or overwhelming.
Understanding of how children in the 4–8 age group interact with digital products.
Strong attention to detail and consistency.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with content and development teams.
A portfolio that demonstrates strong UI/UX work. Game, kids' app or edtech work will be especially relevant.
What You’ll Be Working On
We’re not looking for someone to simply make the games "look colourful."
The challenge is to create experiences where a young child can quickly understand what to do, where to go and what happens next, with minimal dependence on an adult.
If you enjoy solving that kind of design problem, we’d love to see your work and interact with you.
