About the Role
Office Beacon is looking for a Mid-Level QA Engineer with strong hands-on experience in both manual and automated testing.
You will be responsible for validating product features, designing and executing test scenarios, identifying defects, maintaining automated test coverage, testing APIs, and supporting reliable product releases.
The ideal candidate combines strong manual testing fundamentals with practical automation experience and can independently investigate issues, communicate defects clearly, and work closely with developers, product managers, designers, and other QA engineers.
Hands-on test automation experience is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities
Manual & Functional Testing
Test new product features against requirements, acceptance criteria, and expected user workflows.
Perform functional, regression, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing.
Identify functional defects, UI inconsistencies, validation issues, edge cases, and workflow problems.
Validate features from both technical and end-user perspectives.
Perform impact testing on areas affected by product changes.
Test Case Design & Execution
Develop comprehensive test scenarios based on product requirements and user journeys.
Create and maintain detailed, reusable test cases.
Identify positive, negative, and edge-case scenarios.
Validate form behavior, error messages, loading states, empty states, and success states.
Test permissions and role-based behavior where applicable.
Validate data accuracy and workflow consistency.
Ensure new changes do not negatively affect existing functionality.
Defect Management
Identify and document defects clearly and accurately.
Provide reproducible steps, expected results, and actual results.
Include screenshots, videos, logs, or other supporting evidence when appropriate.
Assign appropriate severity and priority based on business and technical impact.
Retest resolved defects and verify fixes.
Communicate critical and release-blocking issues promptly.
Test Automation
Develop and maintain automated tests for critical product workflows.
Automate repetitive regression scenarios.
Maintain existing automation suites and test cases.
Execute automated test suites as part of release validation.
Analyze automation failures and distinguish between application defects, test failures, and environmental issues.
Improve automation stability, reliability, and coverage.
Work with developers and senior QA engineers to integrate automation into the QA process.
API Testing
Perform API testing using Postman, Swagger, or similar tools.
Validate API requests and responses.
Verify status codes, payloads, validation rules, and error handling.
Identify inconsistencies between frontend behavior and backend responses.
Support API and integration testing.
Product Quality & User Experience
Evaluate features for functionality, usability, reliability, and consistency.
Test happy-path, negative, and edge-case scenarios.
Validate responsive behavior and cross-browser compatibility.
Identify potential customer-impacting issues before release.
Release & Regression Testing
Support QA validation throughout the development lifecycle.
Execute regression suites before production releases.
Maintain release checklists and regression coverage.
Identify high-risk areas requiring additional testing.
Participate in release validation and provide clear testing status updates.
Collaboration
Work closely with developers, product managers, designers, and QA engineers.
Participate in sprint planning, refinement, stand-ups, and other Agile ceremonies.
Communicate testing progress, risks, and defects clearly.
Must-Have Qualifications
2–4 years of professional experience in software QA or software testing.
Hands-on experience with test automation is mandatory.
Experience testing web applications, SaaS products, mobile applications, or public-facing software products.
Hands-on experience with at least one automation framework such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, or a similar framework.
Strong understanding of manual testing principles.
Strong knowledge of test case design and defect life cycle.
Experience with functional, regression, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing.
Ability to create test scenarios from product requirements and user journeys.
Basic to intermediate experience with API testing.
Hands-on experience with Postman, Swagger, or a similar API testing tool.
Ability to identify functional defects, UI issues, validation problems, and edge cases.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and sprint-based software development.
Experience with defect tracking or project management tools such as Jira, Linear, GitHub, or similar platforms.
Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with more than one automation framework.
Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or Appium.
Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with test management tools such as TestRail or Zephyr.
Familiarity with Git and Git-based development workflows.
Experience with automated API testing.
Experience testing responsive web applications across multiple browsers and devices.
Experience troubleshooting flaky automation tests.
Experience working with logs, browser developer tools, or basic debugging tools.
