This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Credit Controller based in India.
This role is focused on strengthening cash flow, collections and working capital performance across critical order-to-cash activities. You will manage customer receivables, credit-related order releases, reconciliations and payment follow-ups to support timely cash realization. The position combines customer engagement, financial analysis and cross-functional coordination across sales, operations, treasury and finance teams. You will also manage intercompany receivables and support foreign exchange and regulatory compliance activities. By proactively identifying risks and resolving payment barriers, you will help reduce overdue balances and protect the organisation’s financial performance. This is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to take ownership of important credit and collections processes within a global industrial environment.
Accountabilities
Review and validate customer purchase orders and contract requirements to facilitate the timely release of sales orders and deliveries placed on credit hold.
Ensure prompt release of orders subject to advance payment and retention terms.
Coordinate with sales, operations and planning teams to prevent credit-related delays affecting Material Requirements Planning (MRP), On-Time Delivery (OTD) and contractual commitments.
Escalate risks that could result in delivery delays, customer dissatisfaction or liquidated damages.
Monitor outstanding intercompany receivables and proactively follow up with overseas entities to secure timely payments.
Support compliance with the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and other applicable foreign exchange requirements.
Coordinate with treasury and finance teams to address delayed settlements, hedge contract restructuring and foreign exchange exposure.
Prepare and issue proforma invoices for advance payments, retention releases, bank guarantee requirements, commissioning activities and other customer-specific requirements.
Coordinate invoice distribution, courier requirements and supporting documentation to prevent delays in payment processing and cash realization.
Gather, validate and compile customer-required documentation in line with purchase order terms and payment requirements.
Submit original documentation packages, covering letters and supporting materials to customers and track their delivery and status.
Perform periodic customer account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies between customer records and internal accounts.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve disputes and outstanding reconciliation items that may delay collections.
Manage third-party customer collection activities, prioritising overdue and high-risk receivables.
Conduct regular customer follow-ups through calls, emails and meetings to secure payment commitments.
Partner with sales, customer service and dispute management teams to remove barriers to payment.
Monitor aging reports and contribute to cash collection, working capital improvement and delinquency reduction targets.
Maintain cheque registers, payment documentation, bank guarantee records and related obligations.
Monitor proof of delivery (POD) for couriered documents and maintain supporting records.
Support Electronic Bank Realisation Certificate (e-BRC) regularisation and related compliance activities.
Ensure adherence to financial controls, internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Requirements
At least 3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Collections, Credit Management or Order-to-Cash operations.
Strong understanding of credit control, customer collections, account reconciliations and working capital management.
Hands-on experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems such as SAP.
Knowledge of foreign exchange processes, intercompany transactions and related compliance requirements is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or a related field is required.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance, Master of Commerce (M.Com) or Chartered Accountant (CA) Intermediate qualification is preferred.
Strong foundation in accounting principles and Accounts Receivable processes.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to review account information, identify discrepancies and assess collection risks.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging customers and internal teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow up proactively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy and compliance.
Ability to work collaboratively across finance, sales, operations, treasury and customer-facing teams.
Proactive approach to identifying issues, resolving payment barriers and improving collection performance.
