About The Role
In our ‘always on’ world, we believe it’s essential to have a genuine connection with the work you do. We are currently seeking a high-caliber Staff Engineer, Embedded, to join our team based in Bangalore. This senior technical role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the design and architecture of firmware for next-generation Smart RF Amplifiers, Nodes, and Remote Telemetry Modules, including FDX/DOCSIS 4.0 cable access and IoT edge nodes. As a key member of our engineering team, you will serve as a technical lead, taking ownership of ARM-based MCU/MPU firmware development, operating at both bare-metal and RTOS levels. Your expertise will be instrumental in bridging software engineering with RF hardware design, implementing low-level drivers, leading board bring-up, and managing wireless telemetry systems such as LoRaWAN. Collaborating closely with our US-based hardware, RF, and firmware teams, you will play a vital role in bringing complex hardware platforms to life, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated competencies across various technical domains, along with strong physical, mental, and interpersonal skills. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field is required. Candidates should have preferably 8+ years of embedded software engineering experience, with a proven track record as a technical lead or Staff Engineer. Deep expertise in ARM Cortex architecture, assembly language, registers, linker scripts, and advanced C/C++ programming is essential. You should have comprehensive knowledge of RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or ThreadX, as well as experience with bare-metal firmware architectures.
Practical knowledge of RF hardware control, including familiarity with RF concepts, components like attenuators, equalizers, power amplifiers, and hands-on experience implementing AGC algorithms, is highly desirable. Experience in integrating LoRaWAN protocols, managing sub-GHz wireless transceivers, and reading schematics and component datasheets is crucial. Proficiency in hardware debugging tools such as Keil, GDB, JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers is also required. The candidate should demonstrate strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams across different geographies.
Responsibilities
Design, architect, and optimize low-level firmware for ARM Cortex-M and Cortex-A microcontrollers and microprocessors, ensuring real-time performance and efficiency.
Implement and refine RF control and signal processing algorithms, including AGC, ALC, tilt compensation, digital attenuators, and equalizers, to enhance RF gain stages.
Collaborate closely with hardware and RF design teams, interpreting schematics and block diagrams to guide pinouts, power management, and peripheral routing.
Develop robust peripheral drivers over interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, and GPIO to control RF chips, sensors, power monitors, and gain stages.
Design, integrate, and maintain LoRaWAN stacks and application layers for remote monitoring and low-power telemetry applications.
Lead initial board bring-up, perform hardware/software co-debugging using industry-standard tools, and troubleshoot complex hardware platforms.
Architect system memory maps, optimize code for performance, and ensure deterministic real-time execution.
Drive software quality through modern version control systems like Git and project management tools such as Jira, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
