Role Description This full-time remote Cambodian (Khmer) Medical Interpreter role focuses on providing accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation between Khmer and English for medical encounters. Daily responsibilities include interpreting conversations between patients and healthcare professionals during appointments, consultations, and follow-up calls, ensuring that medical information is conveyed clearly and faithfully. The interpreter will handle both scheduled and on-demand calls, manage sensitive and confidential patient information in line with privacy regulations, and maintain professional boundaries and neutrality. Additional tasks may include basic translation of medical documents or instructions, clarifying terminology when needed, and collaborating with supervisors to address any quality or service issues. The role requires consistent availability, reliable internet connectivity, and adherence to established performance and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications
Strong medical interpretation skills, including Medical Interpretation and Interpreting in Cambodian (Khmer) and English.
Proficiency in Translation for medical and patient-facing materials as needed.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology relevant to clinical settings and healthcare services.
Ability to perform Simultaneous Interpretation and consecutive interpretation in fast-paced call center environments.
Native or near-native fluency in Cambodian (Khmer) and excellent command of English, with clear, professional communication.
Prior experience as a medical or community interpreter, preferably in remote or call center contexts.
Understanding of patient confidentiality and data privacy standards; familiarity with healthcare regulations is an advantage.
Access to a quiet workspace, reliable high-speed internet, and a computer suitable for remote call center work.
Relevant certification or training in medical interpretation or language services is preferred.
