Role Description This full-time remote role is for a Spanish Medical Interpreter based in the United States. The Spanish Medical Interpreter will facilitate clear and accurate communication between Spanish-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare professionals in telehealth and phone-based settings. Daily tasks include performing consecutive and simultaneous medical interpretation, ensuring accurate translation of medical information, and maintaining confidentiality and compliance with relevant regulations. The role involves handling calls, documenting key information when required, and using medical terminology correctly to support quality care and patient understanding. The interpreter will collaborate with internal teams to uphold service standards and may assist with basic written translation related to patient communication.
Qualifications
Strong medical language skills, including Medical Interpretation, Medical Terminology, and Simultaneous Interpretation.
Advanced bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, with experience in Translation and Interpreting in healthcare or related settings.
Ability to work full time in a remote environment, with reliable high-speed internet and a quiet, professional workspace.
Excellent listening skills, communication skills, and cultural competence when interacting with diverse patient populations.
Knowledge of patient privacy standards (such as HIPAA) and commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality.
Previous experience as a medical interpreter or relevant certification is preferred; familiarity with call center or virtual customer service is an advantage.
Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm and professional in urgent or sensitive medical situations.
