Role Description This full-time remote role is for a US-based Spanish Medical Interpreter. The Spanish Medical Interpreter facilitates clear and accurate communication between Spanish-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare professionals during calls and virtual sessions. Day-to-day tasks include providing consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, translating key medical information when required, and ensuring that complex medical terminology is conveyed accurately and neutrally. The interpreter will manage inbound calls, maintain confidentiality in accordance with healthcare privacy standards, and document essential information as requested by clients. The role also involves collaborating with supervisors and team members, following established protocols, and maintaining a professional, empathetic, and culturally sensitive communication style in all interactions.
Qualifications
Strong skills in Medical Interpretation and Interpreting, with the ability to accurately convey information between English and Spanish in real time.
Proficiency in Translation and the use of Medical Terminology, ensuring clear and accurate understanding of clinical concepts and patient information.
Experience or training in Simultaneous Interpretation, particularly in fast-paced medical or customer service environments.
Near-native or native fluency in Spanish and excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
Knowledge of healthcare privacy and confidentiality standards (e.g., HIPAA) and ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
Strong listening skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and professional in urgent or emotionally charged situations.
Reliable high-speed internet connection, a quiet workspace, and comfort working with remote communication and call center platforms.
Previous experience in medical interpreting, healthcare customer service, or a related field is preferred; relevant certifications are an advantage.
