Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Lead WordPress Developer. The Lead WordPress Developer will oversee the design, development, and maintenance of WordPress-based websites and web applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and security. Responsibilities include leading a small development team, translating business requirements into technical solutions, implementing custom themes and plugins, and optimizing front-end and back-end functionality. The role involves collaborating with product managers, designers, and QA engineers, conducting code reviews, and establishing best practices for WordPress development and deployment. The Lead WordPress Developer will also troubleshoot complex issues, manage integrations with third-party services and APIs, and contribute to continuous improvement of the overall web architecture.
Qualifications
Strong WordPress development skills, including custom theme and plugin development, template hierarchy, and WordPress hooks.
Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive design frameworks.
Experience with PHP, MySQL, and REST APIs for building and integrating scalable web solutions.
Knowledge of web performance optimization, caching strategies, and security best practices for WordPress.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern development workflows (CI/CD, code reviews).
Background in leading or mentoring developers, with the ability to coordinate tasks and ensure code quality.
Experience working with cloud platforms or hosting environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, managed WordPress hosting).
Comfort with collaboration tools and remote work environments, with strong communication and documentation skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in building secure, high-traffic, and enterprise-grade WordPress solutions is highly beneficial.
