The platform collects and structures data across 9 wellness dimensions — physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, occupational, environmental, financial, and sexual & reproductive — and converts that data into explainable, evidence-backed and consultant-validated wellness intelligence.
We are building our proprietary data and intelligence layer to power personalised assessments, scoring, recommendations, rituals and long-term wellness programs.
Role
Senior Data Scientist — Equity-Based Founding Role
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist who can take ownership of the data science and intelligence layer of HiWox and help build the systems that transform complex healthcare and wellness data into meaningful, measurable and explainable insights.
This is an equity-based founding opportunity for someone interested in building the core intelligence infrastructure of an early-stage HealthTech company.
Key Responsibilities
Wellness Data Architecture
Design frameworks for collecting, structuring and organising data across the 9 wellness dimensions.
Define relevant variables, features, relationships and data models.
Integrate assessment, consultation, behavioural, lifestyle, device and user-interaction data.
Intelligence & Recommendation Engine
Develop HiWox's data-driven intelligence and recommendation systems.
Work with healthcare experts to convert domain knowledge into measurable data frameworks.
Build scoring, segmentation, prioritisation and recommendation models.
Ensure outputs are explainable, traceable and aligned with defined rules and evidence.
Personalisation
Develop models that identify individual wellness patterns and needs.
Generate personalised recommendations, rituals, interventions and wellness programs.
Build systems that adapt recommendations based on user data, progress and compliance.
Statistical & Machine Learning Models
Apply statistical modelling, machine learning and predictive analytics where appropriate.
Explore predictive models for engagement, compliance, progression and transformation outcomes.
Determine where deterministic/rule-based approaches are preferable to ML approaches.
Healthcare & Wellness Data Integration
Work with healthcare scientists, wellness consultants and product teams to structure domain-specific data.
Integrate data from healthcare devices, wearables, sensors and third-party systems.
Establish data-quality and validation frameworks.
Data Pipelines & Infrastructure
Design reliable data pipelines for collection, processing and analysis.
Establish data quality, validation, monitoring and governance processes.
Support scalable data architecture as the platform grows.
Analytics & Dashboards
Develop analytical frameworks for client, consultant, Captain, partner and internal dashboards.
Define meaningful KPIs around engagement, compliance, wellness scores and transformation.
Build reporting systems that convert complex datasets into actionable insights.
Research & Validation
Conduct statistical analysis and research to validate HiWox's frameworks and recommendations.
Design experiments and measurement methodologies to assess outcomes.
Document methodologies, assumptions, limitations and results.
Product Integration
Work closely with the Product Owner and Full-Stack Developers to integrate data models into the actual product.
Convert data science outputs into production-ready systems.
Monitor model performance and continuously improve intelligence based on real-world data.
R&D & Intellectual Property
Identify opportunities for proprietary algorithms, data frameworks and intelligence methodologies.
Contribute to HiWox's R&D and potential IP/patent development.
Build a defensible data and intelligence layer for long-term competitive differentiation.
Ideal Candidate
Strong experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, AI or a closely related field.
Experience working with complex, multi-dimensional datasets.
Strong Python and SQL skills.
Experience with statistical modelling, machine learning, data analysis and visualisation.
Understanding of data pipelines, databases and production data systems.
Experience with healthcare, HealthTech, wellness, behavioural science or another data-intensive domain is preferred.
Strong understanding of model explainability, validation and data quality.
Ability to work with domain experts and translate real-world knowledge into measurable data frameworks.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
Entrepreneurial mindset with a high degree of ownership.
Comfortable working in an early-stage startup where systems are being built from the ground up.
Engagement
Position: Senior Data Scientist
Nature: Equity-Based Founding Role
Time Commitment: Part-time, approximately 20–25 hours/week
Location: Remote / Hybrid
Compensation: Equity-based; no fixed salary at the current stage
Fixed compensation: Planned after fundraising and revenue stabilisation
Equity: Based on expertise, contribution, responsibility, commitment and long-term ownership
Vesting: 5-year vesting for core founding members
Key Outcome
The primary objective of this role is to help build HiWox's proprietary data and intelligence engine — a scalable system capable of taking data across 9 wellness dimensions and converting it into measurable, explainable and personalised wellness intelligence.
You will have the opportunity to become a core technical owner of HiWox's intelligence layer, working alongside healthcare scientists, wellness consultants, product and engineering teams to build the foundation of the platform.
