L3 Production Support Engineer – Java

We are seeking an experienced L3 Production Support Engineer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and API-based applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing advanced production support, troubleshooting complex application issues, performing root cause analysis, and ensuring the stability and availability of critical enterprise applications.
The role requires strong hands-on technical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and experience working in a high-volume production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide L3 production support for Java/Spring Boot-based applications and microservices.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across application, API, integration, and database layers.
Perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring and critical production incidents.
Analyze application logs, stack traces, API responses, and system metrics to identify issues.
Monitor production applications, microservices, APIs, and system health.
Investigate performance, latency, connectivity, timeout, and transaction-related issues.
Support REST APIs and microservices, including troubleshooting API failures, HTTP errors, authentication issues, and integration problems.
Debug Java and Spring Boot application issues and identify code-level defects.
Work closely with Development, DevOps, QA, Infrastructure, and Database teams to resolve production incidents.
Participate in incident management, problem management, and change management processes.
Implement permanent fixes and recommend improvements to prevent recurring production issues.
Support application deployments, releases, patches, and production changes.
Validate fixes in lower environments before production implementation.
Maintain incident documentation, RCA reports, knowledge articles, and support runbooks.
Participate in on-call / rotational support and handle critical production incidents within defined SLAs.
Identify opportunities for automation and operational improvements.
Required Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Java 8/11/17+.
Strong experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
Extensive experience supporting Microservices architecture.
Strong knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, API integration, and troubleshooting.
Experience debugging Java/Spring Boot applications in production environments.
Strong understanding of application logs, stack traces, exception handling, and performance issues.
Experience with SQL and relational databases.
Good understanding of distributed systems and service-to-service communication.
Experience with production monitoring and logging tools.
Understanding of CI/CD and application deployment processes.
Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix commands and production troubleshooting.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Knowledge of Kafka or other messaging platforms.
Experience with tools such as Splunk, ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or similar monitoring/logging platforms.
Experience with Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, or similar CI/CD tools.
Knowledge of application performance monitoring and distributed tracing.
Experience with ITIL-based incident and problem management processes.
