About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join Oracle's dynamic team. In this role, you will take proactive measures to design, architect, and maintain reliable infrastructure and services that support mission-critical applications. Your responsibilities will include forecasting capacity demands, collaborating with software development teams to develop scalable solutions, and performing data collection to optimize system operations and reliability. You will leverage your expertise to respond to incidents, perform maintenance tasks, and generate health and performance reports. Additionally, you will identify opportunities for automation, communicate service impacts, and support compliance and security initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on innovative projects, experiment with new tools, and contribute to the evolution of Oracle’s infrastructure and cloud services.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or have equivalent practical experience. A minimum of three years of experience in site reliability engineering, systems administration, infrastructure operations, DevOps, or cloud operations is required. Hands-on experience administering Windows Server and Linux environments is essential, along with a strong understanding of application deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting. Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python, and familiarity with automation tools like Ansible or Chef, are highly desirable. Candidates should have experience applying patches, managing change control processes, and implementing security hardening measures aligned with compliance standards. A solid understanding of networking concepts—including DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancers, and certificates—is necessary. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, incident management systems, and observability practices will be advantageous. Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Administer, support, and maintain Windows Server and Linux systems across production and non-production environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
Perform post-deployment configuration, application installation, service validation, and environment readiness checks to facilitate smooth operations.
Execute structured build, deployment, and maintenance activities using approved runbooks, deployment guides, and change management procedures.
Run, review, and troubleshoot scripts related to system configuration, deployment, patching, and validation processes.
Investigate and resolve issues related to operating systems, services, applications, connectivity, and security configurations.
Analyze logs, Windows Event Viewer, service statuses, permissions, processes, ports, and certificates to identify root causes and implement solutions.
Apply patches and updates to operating systems, middleware, and applications, including pre- and post-maintenance validation and rollback procedures.
Support vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and compliance initiatives such as STIG implementation, ensuring systems meet security standards.
Troubleshoot network and service connectivity issues involving DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancers, ports, and certificates using diagnostic tools like ping, traceroute, telnet, and netstat.
Support cloud infrastructure components, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and access management, as well as environment provisioning.
Participate in incident response activities, conduct root-cause analysis, and assist in service restoration efforts.
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, runbooks, validation reports, and incident escalation notes.
Identify automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce recurring incidents, and enhance system reliability.
Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, after-hours support, and on-call rotations as required to ensure continuous service availability.
