Role Description
We are seeking a technically skilled, creative, and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to support the design and development of mechanical components, systems, assemblies, and equipment. The role involves translating engineering requirements and concepts into accurate technical drawings, 3D models, and design documentation while ensuring solutions meet functional, technical, manufacturing, and safety requirements.
Key responsibilities include developing mechanical designs, preparing detailed drawings, creating 3D models, assemblies, layouts, and technical specifications. You will review design requirements, select appropriate materials and components, perform basic design calculations, and make design adjustments based on engineering requirements, testing results, and production considerations.
The role also involves collaborating with mechanical engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure designs are practical and suitable for production or installation. You will assist with prototype development, design validation, drawing reviews, revisions, and troubleshooting of mechanical design issues.
You will maintain accurate design records, manage technical documentation, ensure drawing standards are followed, and support continuous improvement of products and mechanical systems. The position also requires keeping up with relevant engineering standards, manufacturing methods, materials, CAD technologies, and industry developments.
Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering drawings, tolerances, materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems.
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, Inventor, or similar tools.
Ability to create accurate 2D drawings, 3D models, assemblies, layouts, and technical documentation.
Good understanding of mechanical components, dimensions, tolerances, and design for manufacturing.
Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to design accuracy.
Ability to interpret engineering specifications, technical requirements, and design standards.
Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to coordinate across engineering and production teams.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple design tasks, revisions, and project deadlines.
Knowledge of simulation, prototyping, or engineering analysis software is an advantage.
