Role Description
The Vice President of Engineering is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading and scaling engineering organizations across one or more portfolio companies. This position oversees engineering strategy, technical execution, and delivery of high-quality software products that align with business and product objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding engineering managers and teams, setting technical standards and best practices, coordinating project roadmaps with product and business stakeholders, and ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable systems. The role involves reviewing architectural decisions, monitoring key engineering metrics, and removing obstacles to help teams deliver on time and within scope. The Vice President of Engineering also contributes to talent planning, hiring, performance management, and mentoring, while promoting an inclusive, collaborative engineering culture that supports innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Strong engineering management and team leadership skills, with proven experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Hands-on background in software development, including experience with modern development practices, architectures, and tooling.
Demonstrated project management capabilities, with a track record of delivering complex technical initiatives on schedule and within budget.
Experience in product development, collaborating closely with product, design, and business stakeholders to define and execute product roadmaps.
Ability to operate effectively in remote, distributed environments, with excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
Experience in high-growth or investment-backed companies, with familiarity in scaling engineering organizations and systems.
Knowledge of software security, reliability, and compliance best practices, and commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
