About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team in Tampa, FL. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical background and a proactive approach to developing and maintaining secure, scalable, and modern infrastructure environments. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of our containerized deployment platforms, including Kubernetes, OpenShift, and VMWare PKS Essentials. The Platform Engineer will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and automating infrastructure solutions that support our enterprise applications and services. The position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to contribute to mission-critical projects within a secure government or defense environment, leveraging their expertise to enhance system performance and security.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of education, experience, and technical skills, including:
High School Diploma or GED with at least 7 years of progressive experience in Information Systems Security or Platform Engineering.
Proven experience in implementing DevSecOps practices using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or similar industry-standard solutions.
Hands-on experience managing and maintaining containerized environments like Kubernetes, OpenShift, or VMWare PKS.
Strong knowledge of Linux systems administration, troubleshooting, and enterprise environment management.
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash to automate tasks and streamline operations.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible, and version control systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Responsibilities
The Platform Engineer will be responsible for a broad range of tasks essential to maintaining a secure and efficient infrastructure environment, including:
Developing, configuring, and maintaining production container orchestration environments such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, and VMWare PKS Essentials.
Ensuring the infrastructure foundation is modern, secure, highly available, and capable of supporting containerized application deployment by product teams.
Collaborating closely with team members and developers to troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues efficiently.
Monitoring platform performance, implementing scaling strategies, and ensuring system reliability and uptime.
Automating infrastructure provisioning and configuration management to optimize operational workflows.
Managing the software build process and ensuring seamless integration with enterprise CI/CD pipelines.
Maintaining system baselines, configuration items, and documentation for the production infrastructure.
Working with stakeholders to ensure all systems meet operational requirements and security standards.
