Senior Data Network Engineer

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Network Engineer to design, secure, optimize, and support enterprise network infrastructure across complex hybrid and cloud-connected environments.
This role is ideal for an engineer who wants ownership beyond day-to-day troubleshooting. You will help shape network architecture, lead modernization efforts, improve resilience and performance, and serve as a senior technical resource for critical infrastructure initiatives.
The primary opportunity is Fully Remote with Across California, with remote opportunities available for qualified candidates located in TX, PA, FL, MD, and MI.
What You’ll Own
Design, implement, and support scalable enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data-center network environments.
Lead network architecture decisions for highly available and business-critical infrastructure.
Configure and optimize routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and wireless platforms.
Support hybrid connectivity across on-premises data centers and public cloud environments.
Monitor network health, performance, capacity, latency, and availability.
Troubleshoot complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 network issues and identify root causes.
Develop resilient routing, switching, redundancy, and failover strategies.
Support BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, QoS, VPN, NAT, DNS, DHCP, and related network technologies.
Partner with Security teams to strengthen segmentation, access controls, firewall policies, and network security standards.
Design and support site-to-site and remote-access VPN solutions.
Support network connectivity for distributed offices, cloud workloads, applications, and remote users.
Lead upgrades, migrations, hardware refreshes, and network modernization projects.
Evaluate network architecture for scalability, reliability, security, and future growth.
Develop technical standards, diagrams, runbooks, procedures, and architecture documentation.
Automate repetitive network tasks and configuration workflows where appropriate.
Perform capacity planning and make recommendations before performance becomes a business issue.
Support incident response and participate in root-cause analysis for critical outages.
Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on complex network challenges.
Collaborate with Infrastructure, Cloud, Security, DevOps, Applications, and Operations teams.
What We’re Looking For
Strong candidates will typically bring:
7+ years of professional network engineering experience, including senior-level responsibility in enterprise environments.
Deep understanding of TCP/IP networking and enterprise network architecture.
Advanced hands-on experience with routing and switching technologies.
Strong experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or comparable enterprise networking platforms.
Experience supporting large-scale LAN, WAN, WLAN, or data-center environments.
Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, QoS, VPN, NAT, DNS, and DHCP.
Experience with firewalls, network segmentation, and security controls.
Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple infrastructure layers.
Experience with network monitoring and performance-management tools.
Ability to analyze packet captures, logs, routing behavior, and complex connectivity issues.
Experience working with geographically distributed environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
