About the Internship
As a Financial Reporting Intern, you'll do realistic reporting work inspired by real company finance departments: preparing mock financial statements, drafting footnote disclosures, processing journal adjustments, and supporting month-end and quarter-end close cycles.
You'll learn how financial reporters turn raw accounting data into accurate, well-structured financial statements, apply accounting standards consistently, and produce clear, audit-ready documentation that stakeholders can rely on.
Responsibilities
* Prepare mock income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
* Draft mock footnote disclosures for financial statement line items.
* Process mock adjusting and reclassifying journal entries.
* Reconcile mock trial balances to general ledger accounts.
* Prepare mock intercompany eliminations for consolidated statements.
* Analyze mock revenue transactions for correct recognition timing.
* Prepare mock depreciation, amortization, and accrual schedules.
* Review mock expense accounts for misclassifications and corrections.
* Build mock management-report packages with variance commentary.
* Prepare mock segment and departmental reporting packs.
* Draft mock account-flux analyses explaining period-over-period changes.
* Maintain mock close checklists and track deliverables against deadlines.
* Review mock lease, inventory, and fixed-asset schedules for reporting impact.
* Prepare mock bank reconciliations and supporting schedules.
* Analyze mock financial ratios and summarize what they signal about the business.
* Document mock accounting policies and reporting procedures.
* Use AI tools to scan mock financial data and flag anomalies or inconsistencies.
* Build simple reporting templates and control checklists.
* Draft mock memos explaining reporting positions and adjustments.
* Present mock financial results with clear rationale and supporting evidence.
Requirements
* Current student or recent graduate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
* Strong interest in financial reporting, accounting standards, and corporate finance.
* Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with numbers and deadlines.
* Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel or Google Sheets); formulas a must.
* Good written and verbal communication skills, including clear technical documentation.
* Ability to follow structured processes and checklists consistently.
* Comfortable working under deadlines — reporting runs on a close calendar.
* Interest in how companies present their financial performance to stakeholders.
* Familiarity with basic accounting concepts (debits, credits, financial statements) is a plus but not required.
* Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms is a plus.
* Previous professional reporting experience is not required.
