The Planet Group is currently seeking a Strategic Senior Buyer for a growing company in the industrial/manufacturing industry. Qualified candidates must have 7+ years of procurement experience in a global industrial or manufacturing environment, with strong sourcing, contracting, purchasing, and CAPEX/Capital Projects experience. Candidates should also have experience with SAP/Ariba, supplier negotiations, RFPs, contract management, and indirect procurement categories.
Job Description
The Strategic Senior Buyer will support the Procurement Operations team as part of the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) organization. This position will support North American locations with indirect materials and services throughout the procure-to-pay process.
Responsibilities
Source and qualify new suppliers of goods and services by evaluating capabilities, risks, and qualifications.
Support sourcing and procurement activities for CAPEX/Capital Projects and other indirect categories.
Evaluate business requirements and prepare and execute Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
Negotiate purchase agreements and ensure compliance with negotiated terms and conditions.
Manage transitions from incumbent suppliers to new suppliers.
Manage supplier quality, conduct supplier audits, and resolve supplier issues to achieve positive outcomes.
Work cross-functionally with Integrated Supply Chain and support functions including R&D, EHS, Quality, Product Stewardship, and Marketing.
Identify, execute, and track productivity initiatives, including cost reduction and cash-flow improvement opportunities.
Support development of the Annual Operating Plan.
Interact with plant, business, and corporate management regarding sourcing and procurement activities.
Prepare and present internal reports, sourcing strategies, and project bid outcomes.
Support working capital objectives by reducing direct material inventory where applicable and negotiating extended supplier payment terms.
Support stakeholders throughout the source-to-pay process.
Utilize SAP and Ariba systems and provide training and troubleshooting assistance as needed.
Partner with Legal on commercial contract terms and contract negotiations, including contract redlining.
Work effectively across multiple locations and time zones while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of procurement experience within a global industrial or manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated experience with CAPEX/Capital Projects procurement.

Strong experience with sourcing, contracting, purchasing, RFPs, and supplier negotiations.
Proficiency with SAP Ariba and SAP Purchase Order (PO) creation/P2P processes.
Experience with SAP pricing information records, catalogs, collaboration, sourcing, and vendor negotiations.
Working knowledge of MRP (Material Requirements Planning).
Working knowledge of logistics functions and Incoterms.
Working knowledge of contract management and commercial terms.
Experience working with Legal teams to negotiate and redline commercial contracts.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to develop fact-based recommendations and decisions.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines across different time zones.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in French or French Canadian.
Supply chain certification such as CSCP, CPIM, or CFPIM.
MBA.
Experience in a large, global manufacturing or industrial organization.
