Job Summary
We are looking for a PostgreSQL Backend Engineer with 4–10 years of experience to build scalable backend systems, design relational databases, and optimize data retrieval. The role has a strong focus on PostgreSQL database design, SQL development, performance optimization, data integrity, and reliable backend engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain scalable backend systems and data-driven application components.
Design and implement PostgreSQL database schemas for business-critical applications.
Create and optimize database indexes to support efficient data retrieval and query execution.
Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, and triggers in PostgreSQL.
Write and optimize complex SQL queries for application and reporting requirements.
Analyze query performance and implement database-level improvements where required.
Maintain data integrity, consistency, and efficient organization of relational data.
Work with engineering teams to translate application requirements into practical database solutions.
Troubleshoot database and backend issues and support performance-related investigations.
Contribute to maintainable, reliable, and scalable backend and database solutions.
Required Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
Backend software or data engineering experience.
Relational database design and data modeling.
PostgreSQL schema design.
Database indexes and query optimization.
Complex SQL queries.
Stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
Database performance tuning and efficient query execution.
Understanding of relational data models and the principles used to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
Python development experience.
Preferred Skills
Experience designing databases for business-critical applications.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Experience working closely with backend application teams.
Ability to optimize database structures and retrieval patterns for scalability.
