Network Automation Engineer

Job Summary (Network Automation Engineer Cisco + Meraki + SD-WAN + Python) Remote
Design, develop, and implement automation solutions to streamline network engineering and operations processes.
Automate repetitive and high-volume network support activities including configuration validation, monitoring, troubleshooting, remediation, and reporting.
Integrate Cisco, Meraki, cloud, and enterprise APIs (including REST APIs) into scalable automation workflows.
Analyze and correlate telemetry, logs, alerts, incidents, and performance data to identify and address network issues proactively.
Build proactive exception-management and anomaly detection capabilities for network health and performance.
Develop automated network compliance checks, configuration validation, and reporting solutions.
Apply AI/LLM-assisted development tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot) for script generation, troubleshooting, code review, and documentation.
Create and automate operational dashboards, remediation workflows, and reporting solutions.
Document automation frameworks, practices, and transfer knowledge to internal engineering teams.
Work remotely, preferably aligned with US Central time zone.
Collaborate closely with enterprise network operations, support, and engineering stakeholders.
Focus on moving network operations from manual, reactive processes to automated, proactive management.
Environment includes large-scale enterprise network (7,650+ retail locations, corporate offices, distribution centers), Cisco SD-WAN, Cisco Meraki, Google Cloud Platform.
Required skills: 3-5 years experience in network engineering/automation, strong Python scripting, Cisco Routing & Switching, Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela), Cisco Meraki, REST APIs, JSON, network monitoring and troubleshooting, infrastructure automation.
Preferred experience: Retail or multi-site enterprise network environments.
Candidates must demonstrate hands-on automation projects, especially those involving Python scripting, API integrations, monitoring, reporting, configuration validation, and automated remediation.
Note: This is not a traditional NOC, DevOps, or pure software/cloud engineering role. It requires a blend of enterprise networking and hands-on automation development skills.
