About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

PortfolioFuture is an investment research and analytics company focused on improving how investment opportunities are discovered, evaluated, and applied across asset management and wealth management.
Our work includes real-world investment research, fund discovery, manager research, and direct engagement with fund managers, investment professionals, financial advisors, and investors.
PortfolioFuture is developing technology, research, and distribution capabilities designed to help financial advisors, wealth managers, and institutional allocators discover superior fund alternatives, evaluate empirical out-of-sample persistence, and execute disciplined, tax-aware portfolio rebalancing.
The Role
PortfolioFuture is seeking an Advisor, Wealth Management to provide high-level strategic guidance on independent RIA practices, wealth management investment workflows, fiduciary due diligence, and advisor adoption.
The Advisor will advise leadership on how PortfolioFuture’s fund replacement research, Better Alternative Score (BAS) analytics, client transition proposals, and execution support can seamlessly integrate into the day-to-day decision-making processes of independent RIAs, multi-family offices, and institutional wealth managers.
This is an advisory role focused on strategy, insight, and direction rather than day-to-day execution.
Areas of involvement may include:
Advising on independent RIA workflow integration, from initial fund screening and peer replacement discovery to Investment Committee (IC) approval.
Providing strategic guidance on fiduciary transition reporting, client-facing replacement proposals, fee-savings justification, and tax-budgeted reallocations.
Advising on how to format research tear-sheets, quantitative comparison data, and due diligence questionnaires (DDQs) to satisfy RIA compliance and investment policy statement (IPS) standards.
Providing perspective on the operational realities of institutional portfolio rebalancing, model sleeve management, and the frictions advisors face when replacing legacy mutual funds with modern ETFs.
Advising on capital markets execution workflows, block trading dynamics, and how RIAs interact with ETF capital markets desks and authorized participants when reallocating large client positions.
Guiding advisor user-acquisition and platform adoption strategies across independent RIAs, hybrid broker-dealers, multi-family offices, and fiduciary networks (e.g., NAPFA).
Advising on strategic positioning within the broader wealthtech and custodian ecosystem, including custodial platforms (Schwab Institutional, Fidelity IWS, Pershing) and portfolio accounting engines (Orion, Addepar, Tamarac, Envestnet).
Helping shape the Pathfinder platform workflow to ensure that interactions between asset managers and wealth advisors remain high-value, professional, and compliant with fiduciary expectations.
Evaluating advisor feedback, platform utility, and engagement metrics to ensure PortfolioFuture remains an indispensable fiduciary tool.
Discussing enterprise strategy, commercial positioning, and wealth management partnerships directly with the founder as PortfolioFuture expands its platform.
Qualifications
PortfolioFuture is particularly interested in candidates with senior-level leadership experience across independent wealth management, registered investment advisors (RIAs), multi-family offices, wealthtech platforms, or institutional manager research.
Strong candidates may come from established independent RIAs, RIA aggregators and networks (e.g., Dynasty Financial Partners, HighTower, Mariner Wealth, Carson Group, Focus Financial), institutional wealth management platforms, or major RIA custodial institutions (e.g., Schwab Advisor Services, Fidelity Institutional, BNY Mellon Pershing).
Experience as an active or former Chief Investment Officer (CIO), Head of Manager Selection, Director of Portfolio Construction, or Senior Partner/Principal at an RIA managing $500M+ in client assets is especially relevant.
Preferred experience may include:
Demonstrated track record leading or advising investment management, portfolio construction, or manager due diligence within a fiduciary RIA environment.
Deep understanding of RIA investment decision-making, including model portfolio architecture, Investment Committee governance, and manager replacement criteria.
Firsthand familiarity with the operational and tax hurdles involved in transitioning legacy client portfolios out of high-cost mutual funds into lower-cost, tax-efficient ETFs.
Comprehensive understanding of fiduciary obligations under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, compliance best practices, and SEC disclosure standards.
Experience navigating RIA custodian platforms, TAMPs (Turnkey Asset Management Programs), and core wealthtech integrations.
Strong network and visibility within the independent wealth management community, professional advisor associations, and RIA leadership forums.
Professional credentials such as CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst), or CFP (Certified Financial Planner) are highly relevant.
An advanced business or finance degree (e.g., MBA) is welcomed but not required; practical experience managing client assets and guiding advisor investment workflows is the primary qualification.
Advisory Experience
The Advisor will have direct exposure to real-world wealthtech applications involving PortfolioFuture’s fund replacement analytics, proprietary Better Alternative Score (BAS) methodology, advisor workflow tools, and asset manager distribution intelligence.
The role offers the opportunity to shape how quantitative research and modern empirical analytics are translated into practical, fiduciary-aligned decision tools for thousands of wealth advisors.
The Advisor will help bridge the gap between institutional-grade quantitative research and the practical realities of client portfolio management, model rebalancing, and advisor-client communication.
More important than any single credential is a deep, authentic understanding of how modern fiduciary wealth advisors think, allocate capital, and serve their clients.
