Skills and Competencies
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to execute high-volume, data-intensive processes with precision and consistency
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate data concepts and business information for a senior audience
Highly organized and efficient, with a strong ability to manage multiple priorities and meet time-sensitive deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; advanced Excel skills (e.g., data sorting, filtering, pivot tables) are a plus
Strong client-focused orientation with the initiative and commitment required to deliver accurate results and ensure customer satisfaction
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a collaborative mindset and a willingness to support team goals
Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency. Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
Education
Undergraduate/first-level degree (e.g., Bachelor's degree) required, ideally in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Data Management, or a related field
Coursework or project experience in data analysis, data quality, or financial systems is preferred
Candidates ideally graduation in 2028
Anticipated Start Date: March 2027
Responsibilities
This intern will support the Global Middle Office Data Operations team in maintaining accurate, high-quality data across the rating lifecycle, contributing to the efficiency and integrity of operational workflows.
Support data entry, data capture, and lifecycle data maintenance tasks, including new deal setup, amendments, and data quality assurance for the designated Line of Business
Execute document download processes, including manual downloads, issue resolution, and participation in discussions around future operational improvements
Perform administrative tasks such as data updates, preparing rating actions, bulk rating actions, and publishing ratings, research, and press release templates, consistent with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and guidelines
Monitor designated mailboxes to ensure timely and effective handling of internal and external client requests, prioritizing work to meet deadlines and time-sensitive deliverables
Identify, research, and promptly escalate data discrepancies, database inconsistencies, or conflicts for appropriate follow-up with the analyst or team leader
Build and maintain positive client relationships, delivering a professional and high standard of service across a high volume of data transactions
Liaise with rating teams and other Moody's departments, including Commercial and Information Technology, and provide backup coverage for designated associates when needed
Develop a growing understanding of financial instruments, data systems, regulatory requirements, and business practices relevant to the Data Operations function
About the Team
The Global Middle Office (GMO) provides transaction management support, workflow coordination, rating desk services, and broad operational support to Moody's Ratings Service teams. The Data Operations function sits at the heart of this effort, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data across the full rating lifecycle. With more than 100 employees spanning 5 countries, the GMO is a key contributor to business process development, company-wide initiatives, and technology projects — actively leveraging data-driven tools and emerging technologies to advance operational efficiency and service quality.
