Furniture R&D Designer

Job Description:
We’re not looking for someone who can just draw furniture. Instead looking for someone who knows why good furniture looks good.
At Dream Home Store UK, we design furniture for the United Kingdom market—products that need to work in the real world and look exceptional on a screen.
We’re looking for a designer with strong visual judgement, curiosity and a genuine obsession with furniture.
What you’ll be doing
Create original furniture concepts from a blank page.
Research trends, customers and market gaps before designing.
Design for production, knock down, flat-pack construction and commercial viability.
Work with materials like melamine, metal, MDF board and fabrics.
Think about how the product will look, photograph and sell online.
Travel internationally for the furniture quality assurance and quality checking.
Take ideas from concept to a product that can actually be manufactured.
What we’re looking for
3–7 years of furniture/product design experience.
Production experience — not just concept work.
Strong understanding of proportion, materials, finishes and detail.
Ability to develop ideas without needing a reference image.
Experience with flat-pack, knock down or OEM furniture is a plus.
Background in Furniture, Product or Industrial Design. Familiarity with UK market trends and compliance standards is a plus.
Excellent creativity and visualization skills.
Strong analytical, observation and problem-solving abilities.
NID, NIFT or a comparable design institute is preferred. (Not Mandatory)

You should be able to look at two similar pieces and explain why one feels premium, balanced and desirable—and why the other doesn’t.
If you naturally notice proportion, edges, finishes, materials, details and restraint, we’d like to see your work.
