The Organic World is looking for a commercially driven Category Manager – Grocery to lead end-to-end category performance across Grocery, including buying, assortment planning, demand forecasting, replenishment, inventory management, pricing, promotions, sales growth, and profitability.
This role carries accountability for category revenue, margins, working capital, and on-shelf availability while ensuring the right products are available at the right time and cost.
Key Responsibilities
Drive category sales, profitability, and market share growth.
Develop and execute category strategies for Grocery products.
Manage product assortment, SKU rationalization, and new product introductions.
Lead buying activities, vendor selection, and commercial negotiations.
Forecast demand and plan replenishment to ensure optimal stock levels.
Monitor inventory health, stock turns, and working capital efficiency.
Reduce stock-outs, excess inventory, and expiry-related losses.
Plan pricing, promotions, and seasonal campaigns to maximize sales and margins.
Track and improve key KPIs such as Sales Growth, Margin %, OSA, Fill Rate, Stock Turns, Inventory Days, and GMROI.
Build strong relationships with suppliers and evaluate vendor performance.
Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing, and Store teams to ensure seamless execution.
Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
Requirements
10 to 15 years of experience in Grocery Category Management, Buying, Merchandising, or Procurement.
Strong experience in Grocery Retail, Supermarkets, FMCG, or Modern Trade.
Proven expertise in demand forecasting, replenishment planning, and inventory optimization.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.
Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record of driving sales and margin growth.
Ability to manage large product portfolios and multiple stakeholders.
