Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Design Engineering Manager to lead our state-of-the-art Engineering team. This role requires a strategic thinker and hands-on professional who can drive efficiency, quality, and innovation in Product engineering . The ideal candidate will work closely with our design team, proto team and 3rd party vendors to bring concepts to life with precision and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product development:
· The person should be able to handle and monitor multiple projects in the stated timeline, manage all the resource and maintain necessary documents. Will have to convert ideas into working solutions. Should have knowledge of sheet-metal development and drawing standards along with joining processes and weldments.
· The incumbent should have a flair for designing mechanisms / working and assembly of appliances with all the mechanical engineering principles. Will have to convert ideas into working solutions.
· Be capable of handling customers with apt product detailing as per company standards.
· Be able to coordinate with internal departments to ensure smooth functioning of the project at each stage.
· Propose creative / competitive designs to obtain business objectives.
· Should be able to make business cases, cost innovations and budgeting.
· Good knowledge of plastic, sheet metal and other materials with their manufacturing process and mouldability considerations is a must.
2. Prototype Development:
Supervise the end-to-end prototype development process based on design and engineering blueprints.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine and enhance engineering based on prototypes evaluation.
Evaluate feasibility and recommend improvements to ensure optimal results.
3. Resource Planning & Budget Management:
Manage procurement and maintain optimal inventory levels.
Plan and schedule resources to meet project deadlines efficiently.
4. Quality Control & Testing:
Implement strict quality control measures to maintain industry-leading standards.
Conduct inspections and testing to validate Engineering before mould or dies development.
Identify and resolve any material or process-related challenges.
5. Process Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance speed, quality, and efficiency.
Stay updated with new Engineering techniques, tools, and materials.
Document and establish best practices and SOPs for optimized workflow.
Qualifications & Skills:
BE/B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
12+ years of hands-on experience in Engineering, development, or related fields.
Expertise in Moulds and Dies development techniques, including CNC machining, 3D printing, and material processing.
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and prototype testing methodologies.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with a variety of materials such as metals, plastics, Aluminum and composites.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and process optimization.
Exposure to rapid prototyping and emerging fabrication technologies.
