M&A Advisory | Sales + Business Development | Remote
Location: Remote
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: 100% commission-only, performance-based, with no base salary. Earnings are uncapped.
Position Overview
Our Client is seeking an experienced sales and business development professional to support the growth of its middle-market mergers and acquisitions advisory practice.
This role focuses on speaking with founders, shareholders, and owners of privately held businesses who are considering a sale, recapitalization, strategic partnership, succession plan, or other liquidity event. Qualified inbound leads will be provided.
You will manage the relationship from the initial discovery call through the execution of a sell-side M&A engagement agreement. The ideal candidate understands consultative selling, can communicate confidently with senior executives, and knows how to guide complex, high-value decisions without using a transactional sales approach.
Key Responsibilities
Lead discovery and advisory consultations with qualified business owners.
Assess company background, ownership objectives, transaction readiness, valuation expectations, and desired timelines.
Explain the sell-side M&A process, including valuation, market positioning, buyer outreach, due diligence, negotiation, and closing.
Present the client’s advisory services, transaction strategy, competitive advantages, and overall value proposition.
Build trusted relationships with founders, shareholders, entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses, and executive leadership teams.
Manage opportunities from the initial conversation through proposal review, fee discussion, negotiation, and signed engagement agreement.
Address questions and objections related to valuation, confidentiality, timing, advisory fees, transaction risk, and market conditions.
Maintain consistent follow-up and momentum throughout a complex sales cycle.
Manage CRM activity, opportunity stages, pipeline reporting, forecasts, conversion rates, and next steps.
Collaborate with senior M&A professionals to ensure a smooth client transition into transaction execution.
Provide feedback on lead quality, client concerns, competitive positioning, messaging, and market trends.
Qualifications
Experience in consultative B2B sales, business development, enterprise sales, financial services, professional services, or transaction advisory.
Background in M&A, investment banking, private equity, business brokerage, corporate finance, wealth management, accounting, or consulting is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success selling complex, high-value services to founders, business owners, executives, or other sophisticated decision-makers.
Strong executive presence with excellent discovery, presentation, relationship-building, negotiation, and closing skills.
Ability to understand business models, financial objectives, ownership structures, and transaction motivations.
Experience managing longer sales cycles involving multiple conversations and stakeholders.
Strong CRM, pipeline management, forecasting, and follow-up discipline.
High level of professionalism, discretion, integrity, and sound judgment.
Self-directed and comfortable working in a remote, entrepreneurial, and performance-driven environment.
Comfortable working in a 100% commission-only position.
Ideal Candidate
You are a consultative business developer who knows how to earn credibility with accomplished business owners. You ask thoughtful questions, listen carefully, communicate complex concepts clearly, and confidently move qualified opportunities toward a decision.
You understand that selling M&A advisory services requires patience, discretion, emotional intelligence, commercial judgment, and consistent follow-through.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
Qualified inbound leads are provided.
Fully remote work environment.
Direct interaction with founders and business owners.
Exposure to middle-market mergers and acquisitions.
Partnership with experienced M&A and investment banking professionals.
Structured origination and engagement process.
Meaningful involvement at the beginning of complex business transactions.
Uncapped, performance-based earning potential.
