Principal Engineer

Responsibilities:
Technical Vision: Define long-term architecture for core platform services.
Drive technology strategy across multiple engineering organisations.
Evaluate build vs buy decisions and platform investments.
Create engineering standards adopted company-wide.
Architecture Leadership Design highly scalable, resilient, distributed systems.
Lead modernisation of legacy platforms.
Establish patterns for APIs, event-driven systems, observability, and reliability.
Guide architecture reviews across multiple teams.
Platform Ownership Lead one or more strategic technical areas, including:
AI Voice Platform, Real-time conversational AI infrastructure.
Streaming ASR LLM TTS pipelines.
Voice agent orchestration.
AI evaluation frameworks.
Latency optimization.
Integrations Platform Connector framework.
SDK architecture.
Eventing infrastructure.
Webhook reliability.
API versioning.
Platform observability.
Core Platform Modernisation Monolith decomposition.
Service migration strategies.
Database optimization.
Platform scalability.
Reliability engineering.
CI/CD modernisation.
Engineering Leadership Mentor, Staff and Senior Engineers.
Drive technical decision-making across organisations.
Lead multi-quarter engineering initiatives.
Improve engineering culture and technical quality.
Influence hiring and technical growth.
Requirements:
12+ years of software engineering experience.
Demonstrated experience in architecting large-scale production systems.
Deep expertise in distributed systems.
Strong background in platform engineering.
Experience modernising legacy applications.
Exceptional system design skills.
Proven ability to influence engineering organisations.
Strong communication and technical leadership.
Proven experience building systems at scale.
Ability to simplify highly complex technical problems. Strong architectural judgment and decision-making.
Experience leading organisation-wide engineering initiatives.
