About The Role
An exciting opportunity to develop into a key technical role within a growing organization. Emkay Plastics Limited is seeking a practical, technically minded individual to join our team as a Technical Support Engineer. In this role, you will work closely with and support our Chief Technical Officer, gaining invaluable hands-on experience across various technical and manufacturing processes. This position is not merely administrative; it involves active engagement with machinery, drawings, and production workflows, offering a comprehensive learning environment. The successful candidate will assist in reviewing technical drawings, preparing job cards, supporting quotations, troubleshooting machinery, and providing technical support to both production and sales teams. Over time, this role will evolve, allowing you to take on greater responsibilities and develop specialized technical skills that contribute directly to our operational excellence and innovation efforts.
Qualifications
Strong technical aptitude with a keen interest in engineering, manufacturing, or related fields.
Practical problem-solving skills with a logical approach to challenges.
Comfortable working with measurements, dimensions, and technical data.
Interest or experience in understanding engineering drawings and CAD files.
Proficiency in computer skills, including familiarity with relevant software applications.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records.
Willingness to learn new machinery, software, and manufacturing processes.
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality standards.
Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Proactive attitude with a willingness to ask questions and escalate issues when necessary.
Prior experience with CAD, CNC machining, laser cutting, or quality systems is advantageous but not mandatory; a strong willingness to learn is essential.
Responsibilities
Review and interpret technical drawings and CAD files to support manufacturing processes.
Prepare job cards and assist in generating quotations for laser cutting and machining tasks.
Understand and apply tolerances, material specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
Support production teams by addressing technical queries and assisting in problem-solving activities.
Liaise with machinery suppliers to troubleshoot equipment issues and support maintenance activities.
Assist with oven processes and learn critical production procedures to ensure quality and efficiency.
Provide technical support to the sales team and respond to customer inquiries with accurate technical information.
Participate in quality control processes, ensuring adherence to standards and documentation.
Manage and maintain calibration records and schedules for equipment.
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.
Support ISO compliance and other accreditation requirements alongside senior management.
Assist in technical systems, software, and internal project implementations.
Participate in technical trials, development projects, and the implementation of new manufacturing processes.
Maintain comprehensive technical records, ensuring knowledge transfer and process continuity.
Engage in additional projects such as sustainability initiatives, exhibitions, samples, and website or intranet updates, as opportunities arise.
Work closely with the CTO to develop technical expertise and gradually assume greater responsibilities.
