About The Role
The Senior Quality Engineer I at Hoerbiger is a vital role dedicated to monitoring and enhancing the quality of operational processes and outputs. This position involves implementing effective quality controls aligned with strategic and long-term quality planning objectives. The Senior Quality Engineer will review and update existing procedures, develop new work instructions, and ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001:2015. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying root causes of quality issues, implementing corrective actions, and verifying their effectiveness through training and process improvements. Additionally, the engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot product or production issues, develop quality standards for various product lines, and manage supplier and customer quality interactions via SAP modules. Supporting special customer requests, such as testing and documentation, is also a key aspect of this role, ensuring that all products meet or exceed quality expectations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, coupled with 5-8 years of relevant quality experience. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is essential, along with a strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are crucial for investigating and resolving quality issues efficiently. Excellent oral communication skills are required to effectively listen, clarify, and respond to questions from team members, vendors, and clients. Proficiency in written communication, including product and process analysis, Statistical Process Control (SPC) reporting, and vendor/customer relations, is necessary to present numerical data clearly and interpret written information accurately.
Responsibilities
Review and update existing procedures and work instructions across all departments, ensuring they align with quality standards and contribute to the overall quality of finished products and assemblies.
Assist in developing new procedures and work instructions as needed to improve operational efficiency and product quality.
Identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions, including creating training materials for operators to prevent recurrence of non-conforming events.
Investigate and troubleshoot product or production issues using methodologies such as 5 Whys, 8D, and root cause analysis, ensuring timely resolution.
Develop and maintain quality systems in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 standards, ensuring continuous compliance and improvement.
Conduct inspections and testing of materials, equipment, processes, and finished products to verify adherence to quality specifications.
Establish and enforce quality standards for all product lines, including valve assembly and failure analysis.
Manage supplier and customer quality interactions through SAP return modules, ensuring efficient resolution of quality concerns.
Support sales order requests by providing testing, measurement, and documentation such as Certificates of Conformance (CoC), lift tests, Material Test Reports (MTRs), and other relevant documentation.
