Vice President of Project Management
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Project Management to lead the company's global Project Management organization and drive successful execution of strategic initiatives, complex programs, and high-impact projects.
The VP of Project Management will translate company objectives into structured project portfolios, scalable execution frameworks, measurable delivery plans, and effective governance processes. This executive will work closely with Engineering, Product, Technology, Operations, Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Executive Leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with business priorities.
The role will oversee Project Management, Program Management, Portfolio Management, PMO Governance, Resource Planning, Budget Management, Risk Management, Project Performance, and Continuous Improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management Strategy
Develop and execute the company's global Project Management strategy.
Establish project management methodologies, standards, and best practices.
Align project portfolios with corporate strategy and business objectives.
Develop scalable project planning and execution frameworks.
Establish project governance and decision-making processes.
2. Strategic Project & Program Management
Lead high-impact strategic projects and complex cross-functional programs.
Establish project objectives, milestones, deliverables, and success metrics.
Monitor project schedules, dependencies, resources, and deliverables.
Resolve project issues and remove execution barriers.
Ensure successful delivery of strategic initiatives.
3. PMO Leadership & Governance
Build and manage a centralized Project Management Office (PMO).
Establish project governance, reporting, and review processes.
Standardize project documentation and management practices.
Develop project prioritization and portfolio governance frameworks.
Provide executive-level visibility into project performance.
4. Resource & Budget Management
Develop project resource and capacity planning models.
Manage project budgets, costs, and financial performance.
Allocate resources based on strategic priorities and business requirements.
Partner with Finance and business leaders on project investments.
Optimize resource utilization and project delivery efficiency.
5. Risk & Issue Management
Identify and evaluate project, operational, financial, and execution risks.
Establish risk assessment and mitigation frameworks.
Monitor critical project risks and dependencies.
Lead escalation and issue-resolution processes.
Develop contingency plans for high-impact initiatives.
6. Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with Product, Engineering, Technology, Operations, Finance, Sales, and Marketing.
Coordinate cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
Establish clear communication and accountability across projects.
Facilitate executive project reviews and strategic planning sessions.
Ensure alignment between project execution and organizational priorities.
7. Project Performance & Continuous Improvement
Establish project KPIs, performance dashboards, and reporting systems.
Monitor project delivery, quality, cost, schedule, and business outcomes.
Identify opportunities to improve project management processes.
Implement lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
Increase project predictability, efficiency, and execution quality.
8. Team Leadership & Organizational Development
Recruit, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Program Managers, and PMO leaders.
Build a high-performing global Project Management organization.
Establish career paths, competency frameworks, and performance standards.
Develop leadership and succession planning programs.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, execution, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Operations, Engineering,
Information Technology, or a related field.
MBA or Master's degree preferred.
Experience
20+ years of progressive experience in Project Management, Program Management, Operations,
or related functions.
10+ years of senior leadership experience managing project or program organizations.
Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional, and high-value projects.
Experience managing global or multi-regional project portfolios.
Strong experience with PMO governance, resource planning, budgeting, risk management, and
project execution.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with C-suite executives and senior stakeholders.
