Director of Engineering - Data Center

A growing power and infrastructure platform is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead front-end engineering and technical development for large-load and data center power projects. The role will initially manage outsourced engineering partners, review and challenge their work, and ensure designs are technically sound, cost-effective, and aligned with customer requirements. You will support customer meetings and site visits, review single-line diagrams, evaluate power configurations, and translate project needs into clear requirements for data center tenants, generation partners, OEMs, and procurement teams.
This role will focus heavily on gas-fired power generation, including turbines and engines, with responsibility for technical diligence, equipment selection, project scheduling, and development-phase engineering through approximately the first 10% of construction. You will work across both electrical and power engineering disciplines, helping determine what equipment should be purchased and ensuring it matches the project need. Over time, the position will build and lead a small internal engineering team.
Ideal candidates will have strong electrical and power engineering experience, hands-on exposure to gas generation projects, experience managing external engineering firms, and the ability to identify design gaps, challenge assumptions, and drive practical, commercially viable solutions. Experience in leaner, entrepreneurial environments is preferred over backgrounds limited to very large corporate organizations.
