Position Overview:
Henry Ford Health System is seeking a contingent Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Hospital Medicine team at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. This role focuses on providing comprehensive inpatient care for hospitalized and observation patients through admissions, daily rounding, clinical assessments, and ongoing management of acute and chronic medical conditions. The APP will evaluate acute clinical changes, develop evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians, and work closely with nursing, case management, consultants, and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include timely documentation, facilitating transitions of care, and supporting quality and patient safety initiatives. This position has no call requirements, working every third weekend is required and the opportunity to practice at the top of your license with a high degree of clinical autonomy and meaningful physician collaboration in a supportive hospital medicine environment.

One year responding to Rapid Response/Critical care as an APP required
NP or PA graduate from an accredited program
Current (or in-process) Michigan licensure
National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
BLS required; ACLS required (or obtained after hire)
Credentials:
Education & Training
Physician Assistant (PA): Completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
Nurse Practitioner (NP): Completion of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
Licensure
Current licensure as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan, or in the process of applying (proof of application required).
Certification
PA: Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
NP: National certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan (e.g., ANCC, AANP)
Required Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required (may be obtained after hire)
DEA / Controlled Substance Licensure
PA: DEA and Michigan Controlled Substance License (CSL) required through credentialing
NP: DEA registration required through credentialing; NPs do not hold a Michigan CSL and will use their Michigan license number during the application process
