SAP Basis AMS Consultant

About Position:
We are seeking an experienced SAP Basis AMS Consultant to provide reliable Application Management Services (AMS) across production and non-production SAP landscapes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for system monitoring, incident resolution, service request fulfillment, change implementation, technical administration, and continuous service improvement. In this role, you will work closely with SAP functional teams, database administrators, infrastructure teams, security teams, and business stakeholders to ensure system stability, availability, performance, and operational excellence. You will play a critical role in maintaining SAP environments while supporting modernization, automation, and service quality initiatives.

What You'll Do:
Monitor SAP system availability, performance, and operational health across production and non-production environments.
Monitor and manage Background Jobs, Work Processes, System Dumps, Locks, Spools, Interfaces, Filesystems, Database Health, System Alerts.
Resolve SAP Basis incidents and service requests within defined service levels.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Manage SAP user administration, role assignments, and client administration activities.
Support transport management, transport migrations, and deployment activities.
Execute SAP kernel upgrades, support package implementation, and technical maintenance activities.
Administer RFC connections, printer configurations, certificates, and interface connectivity.
Support system refreshes, client copies, and environment setup activities.
Perform system start-up, shutdown, patching, and maintenance operations.
Validate backups and support disaster recovery testing exercises.
Coordinate with database, operating system, network, security, development, and SAP functional teams.
Manage change requests through assessment, planning, testing, approvals, execution, and validation.
Support release management and production deployment activities.
Maintain operational documentation, SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
Participate in shift handovers and operational review meetings.
Identify opportunities for automation, monitoring improvements, performance optimization, and service enhancement.
Ensure compliance with operational, security, quality, and governance standards.
Support planned maintenance windows and business-critical activities when required.
Expertise You'll Bring:
5 to 8 years of hands-on SAP Basis AMS support experience.
Strong experience supporting production and non-production SAP landscapes.
Expertise in SAP NetWeaver ABAP and Java administration.
Strong knowledge of System Monitoring, Transport Management, Background Jobs, Dumps Analysis, Locks Management, Spools Administration, RFC Management, Certificate Management, Client Administration.
Experience performing SAP technical administration activities in enterprise environments.
Good understanding of SAP HANA administration and monitoring.
Knowledge of database performance, health checks, and maintenance activities.
Experience supporting backup and recovery procedures.
Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery concepts.
Understanding of database connectivity and infrastructure dependencies.
Strong experience supporting Application Management Services (AMS) environments.
Expertise in Incident Management, Service Request Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Release Management, Knowledge Management.
Experience working within SLA-driven support environments.
Strong troubleshooting and issue resolution capabilities.
Working knowledge of operating systems, networking, and infrastructure services.
Understanding of SAP interface connectivity and integration points.
Experience coordinating with infrastructure and platform teams.
Knowledge of enterprise IT operational support processes.
Understanding of system lifecycle management activities.
Experience planning and executing production changes.
Knowledge of change impact assessments and risk mitigation.
Experience supporting release implementations and deployment activities.
Ability to maintain governance and compliance during operational changes.
Strong documentation and validation skills.
Strong customer-facing communication skills.
Experience working with distributed technical and functional teams.
Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to stakeholders.
