Job Description
The Principal Architect – Hardware will be responsible for the design and development of service platforms and products that enable effective troubleshooting, maintenance, and diagnostics of Cytiva products.
Key Responsibilities
Lead hardware architecture activities for Cytiva Service R&D bioprocessing upstream and downstream system projects.
Define system architecture and lead technical/design reviews.
Provide technical leadership across electrical, mechanical, embedded, software, and systems engineering teams.
Lead DFMEA activities, identify technical risks, and drive mitigation plans.
Define system-level hardware architecture covering:
Electronics
Sensors
Controls
Power distribution
Communication interfaces
Subsystem integration
Develop hardware project roadmaps aligned with product and business objectives.
Establish hardware design best practices, standards, and architectural governance.
Mentor engineering teams and support product development, launch, and long-term product sustainment.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and product-development requirements.
Required Skills
Strong experience in Hardware Architecture and System Architecture.
Strong background in hardware development and product development.
Experience integrating electrical, mechanical, embedded, and software subsystems.
Strong understanding of:
Requirements development
Design reviews
Verification & Validation
Change control
DFMEA / Risk Management
Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.
Strong knowledge of electronics, sensors, controls, power distribution and communication interfaces.
Preferred / Nice to Have
Experience in bioprocessing, life sciences, medical devices, laboratory or industrial equipment.
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field.
Familiarity with cybersecurity protocols.
Experience with regulated product development environments.
