Role Description The Senior Cloud Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud infrastructure for Superfan.ng’s learning platform. Day-to-day responsibilities include architecting and implementing cloud solutions, managing infrastructure-as-code, optimizing performance and cost, and ensuring high availability and resilience of services. The role involves collaborating with software engineers to support application deployment pipelines, monitoring systems for reliability issues, and troubleshooting production incidents. The Senior Cloud Engineer will also establish best practices for security, backup, and disaster recovery, as well as mentor team members on modern cloud and infrastructure approaches. This role requires proactive ownership of the platform’s technical foundations to support rapid product iteration and growth.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Software Development skills, including experience with modern programming languages, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.
Candidates should possess Infrastructure skills, such as infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), networking fundamentals, and observability tools.
Candidates should possess Cloud Computing skills, including designing and operating solutions on major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) with a focus on scalability and security.
Candidates should possess Linux skills, including system administration, scripting, and performance tuning in production environments.
Candidates should possess Databases skills, including working with relational and/or NoSQL databases, performance optimization, and backup strategies.
Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is highly beneficial.
Background in building and maintaining distributed, high-availability systems is preferred.
Strong problem-solving abilities, clear communication, and the capacity to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team are required.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience is beneficial.
