About the Role
We are looking for a creative and reliable Short-Form Reel Editor who can transform raw smartphone footage into engaging 20 to 30-second social media reels.
This role requires strong editorial judgment. You will review approximately 30 minutes of raw footage per reel, identify the strongest moments, and turn them into concise, engaging content.
Creative direction will be provided initially. As you learn the brand, audience, and content goals, you will be expected to take greater ownership of footage selection, hooks, pacing, storytelling, and creative direction.
The expected output is approximately five reels per week, with the goal of consistently producing at least two to three standout reels each month.
Key Responsibilities
Review approximately 30 minutes of raw smartphone footage for each reel
Identify the strongest statements, hooks, emotions, and visual moments
Edit approximately five short-form reels per week
Produce polished 20 to 30-second videos for social media
Create strong openings that capture attention quickly
Improve pacing, flow, clarity, and storytelling
Add clean captions, suitable music, transitions, and basic sound design
Improve framing, audio, lighting, and overall footage quality where possible
Remove pauses, repetition, weak moments, and unnecessary footage
Follow creative direction and brand preferences
Apply feedback and complete revisions efficiently
Gradually recommend better hooks, cuts, and content angles
Organize project files and deliver completed reels on time
Communicate progress, questions, and potential delays clearly
Mandatory Requirements
Proven experience editing short-form social media content
A portfolio containing relevant Reels, TikTok videos, YouTube Shorts, or similar work
Strong ability to independently select the best moments from raw footage
Strong understanding of hooks, pacing, captions, storytelling, and viewer retention
Proficiency with CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or comparable software
Ability to work with smartphone footage of varying quality
Ability to add captions, music, transitions, and basic sound design
Ability to follow instructions and apply feedback accurately
Ability to consistently produce approximately five reels per week
Availability for approximately three hours per day, Monday to Friday
Reliable internet connection and suitable editing equipment
Strong attention to detail and visual judgment
Clear communication and the ability to work independently
Immediate availability or the ability to start within one week
Strongly Preferred
Experience editing educational, professional, lifestyle, fitness, studio, or personal-brand content
Experience converting long-form footage into short-form content
Strong caption styling and sound-design ability
Understanding of Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
Ability to recommend better hooks and creative angles
Experience working remotely with international clients
Understanding of social media trends and audience-retention techniques
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate does not need every timestamp or cut selected for them.
You can review raw footage, understand its intended message, identify the strongest moments, and turn them into engaging short-form content.
You are comfortable following direction initially, but you can gradually learn the brand’s style and take ownership of content selection, hooks, storytelling, and editing decisions.
You are reliable, responsive, organized, and capable of balancing quality, speed, and cost per reel.
