Role Description
The Senior Accountant is a part-time, remote role responsible for overseeing core accounting functions and ensuring accurate financial reporting for Fresh Farms Market. Day-to-day tasks include managing general ledger entries, reconciling accounts, preparing periodic financial statements, and monitoring cash flow and budgets.
The role also involves reviewing and improving accounting processes, supporting month-end and year-end close, and coordinating with internal stakeholders on financial questions and documentation. The Senior Accountant will assist with compliance-related activities, such as preparing information for tax filings and audits, and providing financial insights to support management decision-making.
Qualifications
• Demonstrated proficiency in core accounting activities, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to support operational and strategic decisions.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and compliance requirements; familiarity with tax and audit processes is beneficial.
• Comfort with accounting and ERP software, spreadsheets, and other financial tools; ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work in a part-time remote setting.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certifications such as CPA are an advantage.
• Prior experience as a senior-level or lead accountant, preferably within retail, food and beverage, or related industries.
