Role Description The Steward role at VIT-AP University is a full-time, on-site position based in Amaravati. The steward is responsible for supporting food service operations on campus, including setting up dining areas, serving food and beverages, and ensuring cleanliness and hygiene in service and dining spaces. Daily tasks include greeting and assisting students, staff, and guests, responding to service requests, replenishing supplies, and coordinating with kitchen and housekeeping teams for smooth operations. The steward also follows safety and sanitation guidelines, supports basic inventory checks, and may assist in training new team members on service procedures. This position requires a professional, courteous approach and a commitment to creating a positive dining experience for the campus community.
Qualifications
Strong Customer Service and Communication skills to interact courteously and effectively with students, staff, and visitors.
Practical experience or familiarity with Food & Beverage and Food Service operations, including serving, table setting, and basic hygiene practices.
Ability to participate in and support Training activities related to service standards, safety, and sanitation procedures.
Attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required by campus events.
Basic literacy and numeracy; prior experience in hospitality, cafeteria, or institutional food service is an advantage.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and inclusive environment for a diverse campus community.
