ROLE CONTEXT
The geotechnical
environment at VZI operations (Gamsberg and BMM) requires continuous
monitoring and control of ground conditions to ensure safe, stable and
compliant mining. The Strata Control Officer (C4) is the critical
frontline role in the Rock Engineering discipline, responsible for daily
underground and/or open pit inspections, monitoring, support quality
verification, hazard identification, and direct operational support.
Working under
the supervision of the Rock Engineer, and as part of the broader
geotechnical team, the role ensures that ground control standards are
implemented, risks are communicated early, and geotechnical practices are
followed to enable safe, efficient mining.
PURPOSE OF
THE ROLE
To perform daily
strata control inspections, monitoring, assessments and reporting to ensure
the integrity and safety of excavations, compliance with support standards,
and timely communication of geotechnical risks to the Rock Engineer and
Production teams.
