Role Description The Senior Software Engineer (PHP/Symfony) is a full-time remote role responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining backend services and APIs using PHP and the Symfony framework. On a day-to-day basis, this position involves writing clean, testable code, reviewing pull requests, optimizing application performance, and collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver new features. The role includes translating business requirements into technical solutions, integrating third-party services, and ensuring system reliability, security, and scalability. The Senior Software Engineer also mentors team members, contributes to architecture decisions, and participates in continuous improvement of development practices and tooling.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software architecture principles.
Proficiency in Back-End Web Development with PHP, Symfony, RESTful APIs, and database design (SQL/NoSQL).
Experience in Software Development lifecycle practices, including version control (Git), testing, and continuous integration.
Advanced Programming skills with a focus on Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and design patterns.
Experience with cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
Ability to write unit and integration tests and work with testing frameworks to ensure code quality.
Strong problem-solving, debugging, and performance optimization skills.
Effective communication and collaboration skills in remote, cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Previous experience in a senior or lead engineering role is an advantage.
