Profee Medical Coder | WFH | 90k SOB

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced SDS / Surgical Professional Fee (ProFee) Medical Coder responsible for reviewing physician documentation and assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier codes for surgical and same-day surgery encounters. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of coding guidelines, payer regulations, and surgical coding methodologies to ensure accurate reimbursement and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Review physician documentation, operative reports, and medical records to assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes.
Code Surgical ProFee encounters in accordance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and regulatory guidelines.
Apply appropriate modifiers and ensure compliance with payer-specific billing requirements.
Identify documentation deficiencies and communicate with providers when clarification is needed.
Maintain coding accuracy while meeting established productivity standards.
Stay current with coding updates, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
Participate in quality audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and organizational coding policies.
Qualifications:
At least 1-2 years of experience in Surgical ProFee coding required.
Certified Medical Coder (CPC, CCS-P, COC, or equivalent) preferred.
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier assignment.
Experience coding surgical specialties such as General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, OB-GYN, Cardiothoracic, or other procedural specialties is highly preferred.
Familiarity with E/M coding guidelines and payer-specific requirements.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to meet productivity and quality targets in a fast-paced environment.
