About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Company Description Superfan.ng is an edtech learning platform focused on African languages and culture, serving learners across the continent and the diaspora. The product is a gamified, quiz-first app that helps users build deep knowledge of African proverbs, traditions, rites of passage, festivals, folklore, and customs. Superfan.ng combines engaging gameplay with culturally rich content to make learning immersive and fun. The team is passionate about preserving and celebrating African heritage while making it accessible to a global audience.
Role Description As a Lead Product Designer at Superfan.ng, you will drive the end-to-end design of our learning app experience, from discovery to delivery, in a full-time remote position. You will define product design vision, create user flows and interface designs, and ensure cohesive visual and interaction patterns across the platform. On a day-to-day basis, you will conduct user research, translate insights into concepts and prototypes, collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and content teams, and iterate based on data and feedback. You will establish design standards, mentor other designers, and help shape design processes that support rapid experimentation and continuous improvement. You will also ensure that the product remains accessible, inclusive, and culturally authentic for diverse African and diaspora audiences.
Qualifications
Strong Product Design and Design Thinking skills to lead end-to-end product experiences and solve complex user problems.
Proficiency in Visual Design to create clear, engaging, and consistent interfaces across mobile and web platforms.
Hands-on experience with User Research and UX Research to plan studies, synthesize insights, and inform product decisions.
Ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and content teams and to mentor other designers.
Comfort with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) and knowledge of modern design systems.
Experience designing consumer-facing or edtech products; familiarity with African cultural contexts is a strong plus.
Excellent communication, remote collaboration, and documentation skills, with a user-centered and data-informed mindset.
Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
