About the Role
The Business Development Officer will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new painting/coating job-work business from automotive OEMs, Tier 1, and Tier 2 customers, in order to improve capacity utilisation and reduce dependence on a single customer. Map competitor paint shops/vendors and benchmark capability, capacity, and pricing.
Build and maintain a database of prospects, decision-makers, and purchase/SQE (Supplier Quality Engineering) contacts.
Inquiry & RFQ Management
Generate and follow up on inquiries (RFQs) for job-work business.
Coordinate with production, quality, and costing to prepare accurate and timely techno-commercial quotations.
Track inquiry-to-order conversion and maintain a live sales pipeline/funnel.
Customer Acquisition & Vendor Empanelment
Support vendor registration/empanelment with new customers, including documentation, plant audits, and sample/PPAP approvals.

Support negotiation of commercial terms (rates, payment terms, volume commitments) under the Director's guidance.
Existing Customer / Account Management
Support growth of business from the existing customer — additional components, volume, and new part approvals.
Coordinate periodic customer costing vs. actual costing checks and commercial reviews.
Track and help resolve issues affecting the customer relationship (delivery, quality debits, communication gaps).
Capacity & Utilisation Alignment
Work with production/planning to understand available capacity and target business development efforts accordingly.
Provide management with regular visibility on order pipeline vs. available capacity.
Reporting & Coordination
Maintain and report on visit plans, sales funnel, and conversion metrics.
Coordinate with MD on target account lists, exhibition/trade show participation, and execution of business development strategy.
Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and customer visits.
Requirements
Graduate in any discipline; Engineering (Mechanical/Production) or MBA in Sales/Marketing preferred.
4–6 years of experience in business development/sales, preferably within automotive components, job-work/ancillary manufacturing, or engineering industries.
Exposure to Tier 1/Tier 2/OEM vendor development and approval processes preferred.
Experience in paint shop, surface finishing, or coating job-work business is an advantage.
Experience in a small/mid-size owner-driven company, comfortable as a hands-on, field-facing individual contributor.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Comfortable engaging with SQE/purchase teams of Tier 1/OEM customers.
Basic understanding of job-work costing (e.g., paint consumption, pricing) to support accurate quotations.
Self-driven and target-oriented, with willingness to travel extensively for customer visits and exhibitions.
Proficiency in MS Excel/reporting; disciplined in pipeline/CRM tracking.
