Role Description The Data Engineering Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Australia, responsible for leading data engineering initiatives that support business operations and decision-making at Esse India. This role involves managing a team of data engineers, overseeing the design and implementation of data pipelines, and ensuring data quality, reliability, and security across multiple systems. The Data Engineering Manager will collaborate with software development teams and business stakeholders to define data requirements, integrate data from different sources, and optimize performance of data platforms. Daily responsibilities include planning and prioritizing projects, providing technical guidance, reviewing code and architecture, resolving integration issues, and aligning data solutions with organizational goals. The manager is also expected to establish best practices, mentor team members, and contribute to continuous improvement of the company’s data infrastructure.
Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in Engineering Management and Team Leadership, with experience guiding and mentoring data or software engineering teams.
Strong background in Software Development, with hands-on experience building data-driven applications, services, or tools.
Proficiency in Project Management, including planning, execution, and delivery of complex, cross-functional data engineering initiatives.
Experience with Integration of data from multiple systems and platforms, ensuring consistency, scalability, and performance.
Solid understanding of data engineering concepts such as ETL/ELT, data warehousing, and data modeling, preferably in cloud environments.
Familiarity with modern data technologies (e.g., SQL/NoSQL databases, distributed data processing frameworks, orchestration tools).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Prior experience in a managerial or lead data engineering role is highly beneficial; exposure to consulting or services environments is a plus.
