Role Description The Data Engineering Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Canada, responsible for leading data engineering initiatives that support Esse India’s immigration and visa consulting services. This role involves managing a team of data engineers, defining technical roadmaps, and overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and integration frameworks. The Data Engineering Manager will collaborate with software development and operations teams to ensure data accuracy, availability, and scalability for analytics and reporting. Daily responsibilities include setting priorities, reviewing code and solution designs, monitoring project progress, and implementing best practices in data architecture, security, and governance. The role also includes mentoring team members, optimizing workflows, and partnering with business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust, data-driven solutions.
Qualifications
Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills to guide, mentor, and grow a high-performing data engineering team.
Software Development experience (e.g., Python, Java, or Scala) and strong understanding of data engineering tools and frameworks.
Project Management capabilities to plan, execute, and deliver data initiatives on time and within scope.
Integration skills to design and manage data pipelines, APIs, and ETL/ELT processes across multiple systems.
Strong knowledge of data warehousing, relational and NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Experience with analytics or BI tools and familiarity with data governance, quality, and security best practices.
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Prior experience in a data engineering leadership or managerial role, ideally within consulting or service-oriented environments.
