Electrical Estimator

Location: Remote – supporting U.S.-based projects
Hours Schedule: Part-time, 30 hours per week, Tuesday–Friday
Time Zone: Pacific Standard Time (PST) – client business hours are 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with a flexible start between 8:00 and 9:00 AM
About Company and Role
Our client, Wirey Electrical Contractor Inc., is a growing electrical construction and home services business seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support its residential and commercial projects across the United States.
This role focuses on evaluating electrical scopes of work, reviewing project documentation, and preparing accurate material takeoffs, labor projections, and cost estimates. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with U.S. electrical construction projects and the ability to communicate directly with customers, contractors, and vendors.
The position will initially be part-time, with the possibility of increasing to full-time depending on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Review site plans, blueprints, and project specifications to define the full electrical scope of work.
Conduct detailed material takeoffs and identify the electrical equipment and systems required for each project.
Calculate accurate labor hours based on the complexity of electrical installations.
Request, review, and analyze vendor and supplier pricing for electrical materials and specialty components.
Prepare detailed cost estimates and formal proposals for submission to customers and contractors.
Identify exclusions, scope adjustments, and clarification requirements within project proposals.
Prepare change orders as project requirements evolve.
Communicate directly with customers regarding bids, project status, follow-ups, and customer satisfaction.
Proactively follow up on submitted bids to understand their status and identify opportunities for improvement.
Coordinate with the client to review estimates and ensure pricing and scope details are accurate before submission.
Must-Have Qualifications
Proven experience working as an electrical estimator or electrical tradesperson on U.S. construction projects.
Demonstrated experience estimating residential and commercial electrical projects, particularly projects valued at $100,000 and above.
Ability to read and interpret site plans, blueprints, project specifications, and technical drawings.
Strong functional knowledge of electrical equipment, systems, materials, and applicable U.S. electrical codes.
Hands-on experience conducting material takeoffs and accurately estimating labor hours.
Experience preparing comprehensive estimates, proposals, and bid packages.
Ability to manage bid timelines and follow up proactively on submitted proposals.
Strong customer communication skills, including professional written and spoken English.
Ability to communicate with customers through email and phone calls, clarify project requirements, and identify opportunities to improve bid outcomes.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience using Bluebeam, Accubid, or similar electrical estimating and takeoff software.
Familiarity with PlanSwift or other digital takeoff platforms.
Experience working remotely with U.S.-based construction or electrical contracting companies.
Experience preparing change orders and managing bid revisions.

Position Type: Part-time, 30 hours per week.
Schedule: Tuesday–Friday, approximately 7.5 hours per day.
Working Hours: Flexible start between 8:00 and 9:00 AM PST, within the client's 8:00 AM–5:00 PM PST business hours.
Project Focus: U.S. residential and commercial electrical construction.
Project Size: The client expects the estimator to begin with projects valued at $100,000 and above.
Software: Training will be provided on the client's specific estimation tools.
Growth Opportunity: Potential to transition to full-time depending on workload and business needs.
Interview Process: Candidate profiles and video introductions will be shared before interviews. Interviews are planned for the week of September 25, with afternoon availability preferred.
