Role Description The Program Manager is a part-time, remote role responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering ASAUK’s academic and professional activities. Day-to-day tasks include organizing events such as conferences, seminars, and workshops; managing timelines, budgets, and logistics; and liaising with members, partners, and speakers to ensure smooth program delivery. The Program Manager will maintain accurate records, support communications related to programs (including website and email updates), and prepare reports and documentation for the association’s leadership. The role also involves monitoring progress against strategic objectives, supporting funding and grant applications, and helping enhance member engagement with ASAUK’s initiatives.
Qualifications
Strong program and project management skills, including planning, coordination, scheduling, and budget oversight.
Experience in event and conference organization, from conceptualization to execution and post-event evaluation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear documentation, reports, and member communications.
Proficiency with digital tools for remote work (e.g., email and calendar platforms, online collaboration tools, virtual meeting software, and basic website or content management systems).
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with academics, partners, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently.
Knowledge of or interest in African Studies and higher education environments; prior experience in a scholarly, nonprofit, or membership-based organization is an advantage.
Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in a field such as humanities, social sciences, international studies, management, or a related area.
