Company Description Tamra for Social Development Organization (TSD) is a legally registered local civil society organization in Ethiopia that has been empowering communities and advancing social development since 1998. Originating as an Anti-AIDS club founded by high school students in Shashemene, TSD has grown into a national organization implementing programs across Oromia, Sidama, South Ethiopia, Central Ethiopia, and Addis Ababa. TSD’s work centers on Youth Empowerment and Peacebuilding, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Gender Development, and Climate Justice and Livelihoods. Through decentralized regional offices, coordination hubs, and a central headquarters, TSD ensures strong grassroots engagement and sustainable impact. Role Description The Vice President of Operations will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure effective delivery of TSD’s programs and organizational priorities. This part-time, remote role is responsible for overseeing core operational functions, including planning, resource allocation, process optimization, and coordination across regional offices and hubs. Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding annual operational plans, reviewing performance metrics, aligning operations with strategic goals, and supporting compliant, efficient financial and administrative practices. The role will collaborate closely with senior leadership to strengthen organizational systems, support risk management and quality assurance, and enhance partner and stakeholder coordination. The Vice President of Operations will also mentor operational teams, champion continuous improvement, and promote inclusive, community-centered practices aligned with TSD’s mission.
Qualifications
Strong Operations Management skills, including experience optimizing processes, systems, and workflows in mission-driven or nonprofit environments.
Proficiency in P&L Management and budget oversight, with the ability to align financial performance with strategic and programmatic objectives.
Experience in Customer Service and stakeholder engagement, ensuring responsive, respectful, and solution-focused communication with partners and communities.
Demonstrated Strategic Planning abilities, including setting priorities, developing operational plans, and supporting long-term organizational growth.
Proven Project Management skills to coordinate multi-region initiatives, manage timelines and resources, and track progress toward defined outcomes.
Relevant academic background in management, public administration, development studies, business, or a related field; advanced degree is an asset.
Experience working with civil society organizations, social development programs, or community-based initiatives, preferably in the Ethiopian or regional context.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in diverse, remote, and cross-cultural teams.
