Company Description Tamra for Social Development Organization (TSD) is a legally registered local civil society organization in Ethiopia that has been empowering communities and transforming lives since 1998. Originating as an Anti-AIDS club founded by high school students in Shashemene, TSD has grown into a national organization implementing impactful programs across Oromia, Sidama, South Ethiopia, Central Ethiopia, and Addis Ababa. The organization focuses on Youth Empowerment and Peacebuilding, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Gender Development, as well as Climate Justice and Livelihoods. TSD operates through a decentralized structure of regional offices, coordination hubs, and a central headquarters to ensure strong grassroots engagement and sustainable impact. Role Description The Vice President of Operations is a full-time remote role responsible for overseeing and optimizing organizational operations across TSD’s regional offices, coordination hubs, and headquarters. This role will lead operational planning, implement systems and processes, and ensure effective coordination of programs in line with TSD’s strategic priorities. Daily responsibilities include managing operational performance, guiding budgeting and P&L oversight for programs, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring high-quality service delivery to partners and communities. The Vice President of Operations will collaborate closely with senior leadership to develop and execute strategic plans, monitor project implementation, and strengthen operational risk management and compliance. This position will also mentor operational staff, promote continuous improvement, and support data-driven decision-making to enhance impact and efficiency.
Qualifications
Strong Operations Management and Project Management skills to oversee multi-site programs and streamline organizational processes.
Demonstrated experience in P&L Management and budgeting to manage program finances and support sustainable growth.
Customer Service and stakeholder management skills to maintain effective relationships with communities, partners, and donors.
Strategic Planning capabilities to align operations with organizational goals and drive long-term impact.
Proven leadership experience in nonprofit, civil society, or social development settings, ideally in multi-regional operations.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to use data for operational improvements.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in remote and cross-cultural teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Development Studies, or related field; a master’s degree is an asset.
Experience in program operations within youth empowerment, health, gender, climate justice, or livelihoods sectors is highly beneficial.
