About The Role
The People Operations Specialist supports the employee lifecycle for a distributed technology organization, managing core people processes across onboarding, payroll coordination, benefits administration, compliance, and employee data.
The role keeps the people infrastructure accurate and reliable by administering systems such as an HRIS, ATS, payroll platform, Slack, and identity-management tools. It partners with employees, managers, Finance, IT, and external vendors to deliver a consistent employee experience as the organization scales.
Key Responsibilities
Manage onboarding and offboarding workflows across the HRIS, Greenhouse or similar ATS, payroll, benefits, Slack, and Okta or comparable identity-management tools
Maintain accurate employee records, job changes, compensation data, organizational structures, and reporting fields in the HRIS
Coordinate payroll inputs, benefits enrollments, leave administration, and employee updates with Finance, payroll providers, and benefits brokers
Respond to employee questions about policies, benefits, payroll, workplace programs, and people processes with clear, timely communication
Build and maintain process documentation, templates, and internal resources in Notion, Google Workspace, or comparable tools
Prepare recurring people reports and audits covering headcount, turnover, onboarding progress, data quality, and compliance requirements
Support performance review cycles, engagement surveys, and other people programs by managing timelines, communications, and system configuration
What We Are Looking For
1-3 years of experience in people operations, HR coordination, HR administration, or a related role, preferably in a technology company
Hands-on experience with an HRIS such as Rippling, Workday, BambooHR, or HiBob and familiarity with ATS and payroll workflows
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage confidential information, recurring deadlines, and multiple employee requests
Working knowledge of onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, payroll coordination, and employment compliance practices
Proficiency with Google Workspace, spreadsheets, Slack, and documentation tools; comfortable learning new systems and troubleshooting data issues
Clear written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and a high standard of accuracy when handling sensitive employee information
Bonus: Experience supporting a remote or multi-state workforce, administering Okta or similar identity tools, building people reports, or working toward a degree or certification in human resources
